Office chair envy is rampant in the workplace

What is one of the items that are considered luxurious to employees?  An ergonomic office chair!  

Based on a survey by Staples Inc.  employees spend more time in an office chair than in bed.  About 29% of respondents said they spend about 7 hours in a office chair and 6 hours in bed.  

Staples conducted a survey with 34 000 Twitter followers, and 600 of them responded to a survey relating to office chairs.  
 
The amount of time people spend sitting in a chair explains why they give it a priority and why it is a status symbol. 

Employees usually do not have a choice about the chair they sit in.  The survey found 2/3 of respondents were “relatively dissatisfied” with their current chair. 

Approximately 3 out of 4 respondents said they have “office-chair envy” and want a co-worker’s chair. 

Forty seven percent of respondents agreed that a higher title in a company does result in a better chair. 

Another interesting result from the survey was 57% of respondents have heard their co-workers “secretly switching to get a better office chair”.
