Annual staff reviews may lower productivity

Many industry experts claim eliminating performance appraisals can increase productivity, harmonize workplace communications and alleviate stress.
Industry experts state that if companies want to achieve their goals more quickly they should get rid of performance evaluations. 

According to Chuck Bolton's ( a management consultant) research about 87% of employees and 94% of chief executives think performance reviews are ineffective.  Bolton says that CEOs and HR managers do not know another way to evaluate employees so they continue with already existing performance evaluations even though they know it causes unnecessary stress. 

Greg Schinkel, president of Unique Training and Development Inc., suggests that employers offer employees daily feedback, both positive and negative, in terms of meeting the organization’s expectations.  This type of behavior shows both appreciation and informs employees about the path they need to take to improve their performance.
