Spirituality belongs in the workplace

Getting through tough times.
Photo: meditation silhouetteIt has been noticed that those who suffered tough times in their life and kept their faith were better able to get through difficult times. In comparison, those who had no faith or had lost it did not cope with their difficulties as well as though who did have faith.

In Canada and other parts of the world those who lead a spiritual life are more likely to enjoy their work and get through tough times at work.

With the economic recession many employees might find themselves with a larger workload, and those who place great importance on spirituality may endure the workload in a better way than others.

Spirituality can also help us find a deeper meaning and build better relationships in times when the work we do is boring and the salary we receive is poor.   Instead of just interacting with co- workers because it is mandatory, build a social support system and help each other out.  Who better to support you than those who know what you are experiencing.

Right now may be a better time than ever to encourage employees to start or engage in spiritual practices.

It may also be a reason for employers to provide a room for employees to engage in spiritual practices.

A simple step like this can help increase employees’ levels of engagement, retention rates, and job satisfaction.
