Healthy Foods Boost Brain HealthEating healthy to increase workplace performance.
![]() Recent studies have found that heart-healthy foods can also positively affect the brain’s
functioning. Researchers know that certain nutrients affect memory, concentration, learning and
decision-making. The main source of fuel for the brain is glucose, however, the brain cannot store it. The best way to help your brain receive its glucose supply is to eat a diet which contains complex carbohydrates. Examples of complex carbohydrates include whole grain bread, cereals, pasta and rice, fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes. Snacking throughout the day is also another way to keep blood glucose levels steady. Iron is an important nutrient. It is necessary for transporting oxygen to the brain and is needed by the brain to use glucose. The best ways to get iron in your diet is to eat lean beef and lamb, iron from these sources are easily absorbed. However, there are other food sources where iron is not absorbed easily, these foods should be consumed with vitamin-C rich foods. Protein helps increase mental alertness and concentration. Food rich in protein include fish, meat, dairy, soybeans, peanuts, almonds, and wheat germ. Antioxidants help protect the brain. Staying hydrated is another way to increase brain activity. If you find that your work
performance is being affected due to a lack of brain power then start incorporating the above tips. These tips
will help you boost your brain’s power and help you excel at work! Posted by: suhujitha on 2009-11-26 21:23:10 Next post: High levels of burnout among UK family doctors, especially in group practice 2012-01-31 08:59:19 Other posts tagged heart
