Open Office Concepts Put More Stress On Workers: StudyOffice set ups with cubicles
may be more productive than the open space idea.
The open space set up in offices may influence employees' level of well being. Although there is no face to face communication among employees in the old-style enclosed office space, this may increase productivity. The lack of communication can increase productivity through decreased stress levels and increased employee output. For instance, those in open space office settings are more likely to be distracted by others in the office, feel as though they have less privacy, and more likely to contract illnesses from fellow employees. The closed office space concept may work to the benefit of employers.
